Cookie Policy and Analytics Choices

Last updated 25 September 2026

How we use cookies

The Capitool website uses cookies and similar technologies to remember your privacy choices, protect our enquiry forms and, with your permission, understand how the website is used. We do not use cookies for advertising or behavioural targeting.

When you first visit, you can accept all cookies, reject non-essential cookies or manage your settings. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity do not load unless you choose to allow analytics cookies. If you do not make a choice, neither service runs.

Necessary technologies

Necessary technologies support functions that cannot reasonably be provided without them. They do not require your consent and cannot be switched off through our cookie settings.

Name or service Purpose Duration
capitool_cookie_consent Remembers whether you accepted or rejected each cookie category. 6 months
Cloudflare Turnstile Protects enquiry forms from automated spam and abuse. Used when an enquiry form is displayed or submitted

Cloudflare Turnstile may process technical and device signals needed to distinguish genuine visitors from automated abuse. Standard Turnstile widgets produce a short-lived verification token; Cloudflare may use cookies or similar storage depending on its configuration and the challenge required. These technologies are used for security and fraud prevention, not advertising. Cloudflare controls the information it processes under its own privacy policy.

Optional analytics cookies

If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to measure website activity, such as pages visited and how visitors move around the site. We use Microsoft Clarity to understand interactions through heatmaps and session replays. This helps us improve the website. We do not use these services for our own advertising or behavioural targeting, and we send both services a denied advertising consent signal.

Cookie Purpose Duration
_ga Distinguishes visitors for aggregate website analytics. 2 years
_ga_<measurement-id> Maintains session state for this Google Analytics property. The final part of the name identifies the property. 2 years
_clck Recognises a visitor across Microsoft Clarity sessions. Up to 1 year
_clsk Connects page views in one Microsoft Clarity session. Up to 1 day
_cltk (session storage) Maintains a Microsoft Clarity tab identifier. Until the tab closes or analytics consent is withdrawn

Microsoft may also set cookies on its own domains after you consent; these cannot be removed by our website. See Microsoft’s Clarity cookie list. Google provides further information about Google Analytics cookie usage and how it processes information in its privacy policy.

Changing your choice

You can reopen Cookie settings from the footer of any page. If you withdraw analytics consent, we tell both services that analytics consent is denied, remove the first-party analytics cookies and Clarity session storage listed above, and reload the current page without either service. Previously collected data is subject to each provider’s retention rules; withdrawing consent does not erase it automatically. Withdrawing consent does not affect access to the website or our enquiry forms.

Browser controls

You can also remove or block cookies and site data using your browser settings. Blocking necessary security technology may prevent an enquiry form from being submitted. You can still contact us by calling 01376 297191 or emailing admin@capitool.co.uk.

Future changes

We will update this policy and ask for a renewed choice where necessary if the cookies, providers or purposes described here change materially.

Questions about this policy can be sent to admin@capitool.co.uk.
