Asset Finance, explained

Asset finance lets you spread the cost of vehicles, machinery and equipment over their working life, instead of paying the full price upfront. It also works in reverse — releasing cash from assets your business already owns.

Because the lending is secured against the asset itself, approval is often faster — and available to younger businesses — than an equivalent unsecured loan.

Equipment / Vehicle Lease

Use the latest equipment and vehicles for a fixed monthly cost, with the option to upgrade at the end of the term.

Equipment / Vehicle Hire Purchase

Spread the cost of new or used assets over an agreed term and take full ownership when the final payment is made.

Asset Refinance / Equity Release

Release cash tied up in assets your business already owns, without disrupting day-to-day operations.

And more — if the asset or facility you need isn't listed here, speak to a broker and we'll find the right solution.

Why businesses choose asset finance

Practical outcomes, not finance jargon — here's what the right facility actually does for you.

Put equipment to work now

Get vehicles and machinery earning immediately, while payments are spread across their useful working life.

Predictable monthly costs

Fixed payments make budgeting simple and keep your cash reserves free for day-to-day trading.

Release cash from what you own

Refinance vehicles, machinery and equipment you already own to unlock working capital — without selling anything.

Keep pace with technology

Leasing lets you upgrade at the end of each term, so you're never stuck running obsolete kit.

Don't see your situation?Talk it through with a broker— if this isn't the right product, we'll tell you what is.

Finance brokers who work for you, not the lender

Applying to lenders one by one can be time-consuming. We review your requirements and approach lenders from our panel where their criteria appear to fit, then explain the available options clearly.

  • A focused route to suitable options

We assess your circumstances and approach lenders from our panel where the published criteria appear to fit.

  • One enquiry, a panel of lenders

Your broker can compare potentially suitable options without asking you to repeat the same initial information lender by lender.

  • A dedicated broker, start to finish

You'll deal with one named expert who understands your business and handles the paperwork for you.

  • Clear before you proceed

Any fees, commission arrangements and lender credit searches will be explained before you choose whether to continue.

Asset Finance questions, answered

The questions business owners ask us most about this type of funding.

What's the difference between leasing and hire purchase?

With hire purchase you're buying the asset: you pay a deposit, spread the balance over an agreed term and own it outright at the end. With a lease you're paying to use the asset, usually with lower monthly costs and the option to upgrade, return or extend at the end of the term.

Can I finance used or auction-bought equipment?

Yes. Many of our lenders fund used, refurbished and auction-purchased assets, including private sales. The asset's age and resale value will affect the term and rate, and your broker will match you with lenders who know your industry's equipment.

What deposit do I need for asset finance?

Typically between 0% and 10% of the asset's value plus the VAT, though VAT deferrals are available on many agreements. Stronger trading history and more desirable assets generally mean lower deposits.

Can I finance an asset I've already paid for?

Often yes. Many lenders will refinance an asset bought outright within the last few months, returning most of its value to your bank account while you spread the cost over an agreed term. Your broker will confirm which lenders accept the asset and how recently it was purchased.

Can a new business get asset finance?

Yes — because the asset itself secures the lending, asset finance is one of the most accessible products for newer businesses. Lenders may ask for a director's guarantee or a slightly larger deposit, but a long trading history isn't essential.

What happens if I want to settle the agreement early?

Most agreements can be settled early, with a rebate on some of the remaining interest. Your broker will explain the exact settlement terms of any agreement before you sign, so there are no surprises later.
